German drum building at it’s best. These relatively thin Beech shells are extraordinary - unlike any other. This snare plays and records like a dream. Plus, this “Super Pearl” blue wrap is “super rare” and out of this world. But, you know that already...
This snare is mostly in very good used condition.The drum is factory original, except for the Remo resonant head. Everything is fully functional. Snare strainer is still very smooth and Sonor steel wires lay flat and adjust easily. Factory internal muffler is excellent. The drum has been safely stored in a studio when not being used for recordings or the occasional live performances. This snare is used, but still looks great!
Scrutinizer Note: Upon close inspection, you will find a few tiny nicks/dings and some scratches and marks on the chrome. (One obvious scratch-spot on the edge of the bottom rim and weather-age on the lugs.) Chrome still shines. The “Satin Blue” wrap is tight and still gleams. But, there is some fading and age-spots. Also, the strainer is missing the front plate and, consequently, part of the casing broke off. The tensioning arm still functions perfectly. Heads are obviously used, but still tune up fine. Edges are good and clean. Badge is clean - mounting nail indentations on inner-ply. Too, as with most vintage Sonors, the diameter measures slightly under 14”. Drum is relatively light, just under 8#’s total. There’s no three digit production date stamp present inside shell - that I could detect anyways. Still, vintage Sonor catalogs indicate this is ‘69/‘70. See pictures above.
