Description
New build-this engine was bought complete from a rebuilding facility. Investigation showed that a foreign object went through cylinder #4 on initial startup and it was apparently shut off immediately. There was a dent in the top of the piston and some minor distress in the combustion chamber around the intake valve. Water had been allowed to sit in the cylinder had created some rust. After a gentle honing, there was still a stain, so the cylinder was sleeved, piston and rings replaced and this cylinder is now perfect, indistinguishable from the others. The engine was disassembled and carefully inspected and it is in all aspects new. Except for the issues with cylinder #4 everything is perfect-no carbon or detectable wear anywhere. Please review the pictures to confirm. So, I decided to have some fun with it. The VVT was ditched and replaced with a high performance camshaft, the FI top end replaced with a carburetor and distributor. Details of all the NEW major components are listed below:

This engine has the highly desirable aluminum angle plug heads with huge rectangular ports and valves. It should easily produce 500 horsepower with excellent reliability. It has been test run and sounds like an absolute beast. FYI these bottom ends are capable of handling 800 horsepower. It was built by a seasoned mechanic with decades of experience and a strong technical background and is available to view and observe in operation by appointment. If you want LS performance with the simplicity of a carburetor and pointless ignition, this might be what you are looking for.
