DUNHILL 1960 ROOT BRIAR FE CLASSIC PRINCE ESTATE PIPE

Description

The affable Prince, a classy and iconic shape that belongs in every collection/rotation. Hard to do much better than a Dunhill and this stunning Root Briar was made in 1960. The FE shape goes back to the early days as the 312 if I recall but featured as a Group 4 whereas the 312 was a Group 2. It sports a lovely perfectly formed squat Apple shaped bowl with incredibly thick walls and a generous chamber for its size. The base is rounded yet flat enough to make for a fine setter and transitions to a sturdy round shank that is well proportioned and meets the original vulcanite stem with slight fishtail bit and crisp white spot. Finish is classic 1960's Root Briar, a rich and warm medium with hints of red while the grain shows off starburst radiating out of a patch of birdseye near the heel on the left with more on the right showing tons of depth. Overall clean throughout, this now 61 year old Dunhill is still in its prime and ready for another lifetime ahead!

Condition: Excellent. Chamber is mint. Interior edge of rim shows a touch of wear. Stem shows minor buffing wear. Overall superb!
