Description
As the article says: "This is the prettiest bowl of cherries we've ever seen. The subtle color variations in this piece aren't achieved with lots of color changes - instead, they're created with the east of using variegated floss."This is a counted cross stitch kit I put together. The design, named
Cherry Basket Sampler,
is found in the July/August 1993
Cross Stitch & Country Crafts
magazine. The magazine is included with this listing.
The model was stitched on 28 count tea-dyed linen. I included a 28 count light tan linen (unlabeled - possibly Lambswool). Your finished picture may appear different than the model due to fabric substitution.
Design size: 9-1/4" x 7-1/4." Stitch count 136 x 101.
The instructions say to use 3 strands of floss for cross stitch. I was only able to find a limited amount of the out of production DMC variegated floss, so you should probably use 2 strands instead of 3. Variegated floss is included for the 5 predominate colors in the design. Detailed instructions are given how to cut and use the floss to get the shading shown on the model.
Kit contains:
The magazine in fair condition. The front cover is missing. All of the other pages are intact. No writing. Color accented graph. DMC and Anchor closs choices are listed.
28 count light tan linen (possibly Lambswool) Fabric size is about 18" x 17."
DMC floss cut to approximate 36" lengths on sorter card

2 skeins DMC Variegated floss # 115 (medium-dark Garnet)

I substituted DMC 3354 for variegated 48 as I couldn't locate a supply. The pink color is used only for the flower buds in the border.

I continue to put together cross stitch kits and restore the old used ones. Has been keeping me really busy, and I enjoy doing it. I do have a large supply of patterns (and I keep buying more!!) and try to match them with fabrics I have acquired. I hope you will check out my items, and maybe you just might see something you like. Thank you.
