19c netsuke 9 THEATRICAL MASKS

Description

19th century wooden netsuke carved as a cluster of 9 theatrical masks including those of Okina, Hannya, Shojo, three Kijin type masks (most probably Shishiguchi, Kurohige and Obeshimi), Kitsuné the Fox, Usofuki and Yamauba. Excellent carving with great detailing, dense dark wood with pleasant wear and patina. Length 1 11/16 inches.
