Up for sale is one vintage 1954 Leedy & Ludwig Snare Drum
.  This snare drum was called "The Utility" model in the catalogs. It's stamp dated 5412 inside (12th week of 1954).  It came in two sizes so this would be the catalog #2012, 5"x14" size with 6 imperial lugs.
It's in remarkable condition for 67+ years old.  The case did a great job preserving it.
It's 100% original except the bottom head.  Even the top calf head marked "Leedy & Ludwig Standard Hardwhite" head is perfect.
Beautiful smooth glossy mahogany finish on the outside (usually that's all worn and beat).
Single flange rims with 6 collar hooks a side.
Oddly enough everything is nickel plated but the lugs look chrome. I have no reason to believe they were changed. That's probably what Leedy & Ludwig had and used in the factory in 1954 I'm sure.  Silk wire snare wires too.
We all know that throw-off is super valuable too, very nice! and yes it has the little "L' on the top of the knob.  The 12 tension rods have the tall tops on them and thick clean washers, very nice.
The case is not original to the drum as there are words on the top that are partially painted over that say something about a Camera.

Bottom line is this is clearly in near mint, collector grade condition.
